ISOTYPE
The first images that came to mind when reading about ISOTYPE is road signs. While driving a person must be aware of what is on the road ahead but don't have time to read out long sentences on the side of the road. Standardized road signs are the perfect solution for this problem.
The second thing that comes to mind is the "mind the gap" logo from British railways. The logo is known worldwide yet is simple and straight forward in its message.
The last thing that comes to mind are restroom signs. The symbols for Men's and Women's rooms are almost universal. However the signs that come to mind specifically are McGuire's bathroom signs that show just how ingrained people are at looking for only the biggest detail and don't stop to read everything.
